Today I am thrilled to have the very awesome Shay Fabbro, author of Dangerous Reflections and Twisted Reflections, here, hanging out on my virtual couch. She has convinced me to play a game of 20 questions with her…which I haven’t played in a really long time. So, cross your fingers for me! My brain probably needs the exercise. Take it away, Shay!
Okay folks! The lovely Laird has agreed to my fun little game of twenty questions! She will ask me yes/no questions and try to narrow down what historical figure I am posing as today. I’m not dressed up or anything since THAT would give everything away.
Want to play along? You’ll have to make sure to avoid the temptation to scroll down and see the answer before hand! Read each question and see if you can guess who I am before Laird!
Ready? Set??? GO!
1. Are you a man?
Nope!
2. Hmmm…. OK. That means you are a woman. Wait. Did we rule out animals? Are you human?
Bwahahaha! *snort* Yes, I’m human
3. Are you a rebel?
I wouldn’t call myself a rebel
4. Were you born after 1900?
No
5. Are you a writer?
Yes, I write scifi/fantasy novels… Oh, wait you mean my historical character?? No
6. Hmmm. I’m not making much progress, am I? What to ask…. Eek! I only have 15 questions left!
Ok, so you are a human, woman, born before 1900, not a rebel, not a writer.
Are you a political figure?
Hmmm…had to consult with hubby on this one. I’d have to say yes but not in a super obvious way
7. Are you American?
No
8. This is getting tough. Isn’t there a version of 20 questions where you can give me, you know, a hint? lol.
It is possible that I suck at this.
OK. Hmmm… Did you live before the Renaissance?
YES!! Had to double check the years since the Renaissance spanned 4 centuries
And after this long of time, I forget the years I was born and died! LOL
9. Is this the part where people who are really good at this game already have it narrowed down and start throwing names out?
Are you religious?
Oh YES!
10. Are you a saint?
I AM! Too bad my real self isn’t a saint
11. Are you Joan of Arc?
YES! *bows* Nicely done
Thanks for playing 20 questions! I thought this would be a fun way to introduce my YA/fantasy novels involving time travel. The heroine of the stories, Alexis Davenport, sees the reflections of strange girls in the mirror. She tries to figure out who the girl is so she’ll know what time period she’ll eventually be traveling back to. Not as easy as it sounds, however, even for a girl gifted with historical knowledge that surpasses her fifteen years.

Bwahahahaha! That was fun!
Very fun! I am just relieved I guessed it!
Wow, great guessing! I didn’t have a clue, even though in her native land she had the same name as me. 20 questions is the perfect way to introduce books where character identification plays such an important role. Fun!
Thanks Jeanne!!
Cute idea! I went to France with my daughter years ago and we stopped in a beautiful old town, Loches, whose claim to fame was that in this town Jeanne d’Arc convinced the Dauphin to go to war. (At least I think that’s what happened there, something like that.)
How cool is that??
Impressive guessing Laird! 20 MORE questions and I might’ve had it. And great fun idea, Shay!
Thanks Barbara!
She did good, right??
Fun idea! Very engaging. You know, any time I’m faced with doing something that scares me I think of Joan of Arc. Then I tell myself that her gig was way harder than what I have to do, and it helps.
right? I may have to give that a try!
Great idea! I’ll have to do that
Laird, you were fabulous – it would have taken me many more questions to get that. Shay – what a great way to introduce your book. Nicely done, ladies!
Thanks Tami!
Awwwww, thanks!
Wow, you guess it in 11 questions? You are WAY better than I am! I still had no clue.
Very creative idea though! Good job!
I was never very good at this game!! LOL Laird did a fabulous job
Very entertaining. Great job, you two
Thanks Mike! Even though we did it over e-mail, it was still sort of stressful and totally fun!!
You turned that around nicely, Laird. And Shay, nice transition to your books!
I got it when you asked about the Renaissance! I love that game.
I am horrible with history! I find it very interesting, but have a hard time remembering the dates and specifics. Good guessing Laird, and great pick Shay! Started reading your first book Shay, only a couple chapters in but I think it should be good
Now to have everything in my house take care of itself so I can actually have time to read some more lol.
I wish I had more time to read as well!!!
I think I could have guessed it if I was given 20 really obvious hints, not asked 20 questions.
hey – that was fun. I suspected it after pre-renaissance and had it after “oh, yes” to the “are you religious” question.
Probably should have gone with just a simple “yes” eh???
